Hi, I’ve just bought the pastry chef maker and wondered about the same question, “can I use bread instead of pastry?” So I tried it and ‘yes’ it worked a treat!
I cut off the crusts and made breadcrumbs out of them to add to the filling. Then I used a rolling pin to flatten and enlarge the bread slices to fit the cooking plates.
The bread took an extra 4 minutes to brown but the result was a crunchy crust that held the filling as well as pastry. The best thing is I got to use my healthy prebiotic wholemeal and spelt bread instead of white flour pastry.
