Can an air fryer help save on electricity costs?

By Bilal Alwan

An air fryer provides a much more energy-efficient option compared to a traditional oven, which can help reduce your overall electricity usage, especially if you frequently cook small to medium-sized meals. Air fryers are designed to heat up much faster than conventional ovens. While a full-sized oven might take 10–15 minutes just to preheat, an air fryer usually requires only 2–3 minutes before it’s ready to cook.

Air fryers use a smaller heating element and fan system compared to the large elements found in most ovens, which consume more power over extended periods. This makes air fryers a cost-effective choice for quick meals, reheating leftovers, or preparing side dishes without the need to power up your full oven. The compact size of air fryers also tends to cook food in a shorter time frame without sacrificing on quality. A dish that might take 25–30 minutes in an oven could be ready in 15–20 minutes in an air fryer, reducing the amount of time the appliance needs to stay powered on and providing high-quality results
